![]() ![]() I'm concerned about the robustness of the Drobo company whereas Qnap seems to be a very strong and reliable company based on looking at their website.ĭepends on the network speed. If anyone has had experience with these systems and can provide some feedback I would appreciate it very much. It doesn't have some of the features of the Drobo but has gotten good reviews. ![]() The Qnap is a nice looking system as well. ![]() The 5D3 does support a separate 2.5"SSD drive as a cache which is a nice feature. The Drobo 5D3 (available stock in 2 weeks) is an alternative but I'm on a PC so don't need Thunderbolt connection so the price is a lot higher. The Drobo system is out of stock everywhere but the company just answered an email saying they will be available towards the end of the year or early 2021. I am comparing the Drobo 5c and Qnap TR-004 systems. I am leaning toward the DAS solution because reviews say that NAS storage is not fast enough to handle real-time editing. I currently do backups locally and I have a Backblaze account for off-site backup. I want to use the drive as my data storage for photo and video editing and I like the ability to have a redundant backup as well. I am running out of space on my collection of external drives so I've been looking at DAS and NAS drives as a replacement. ![]()
